WEEKLY BULLETIN – 2nd MARCH 2025

ASH WEDNESDAY – 5th March.  This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday and is a day of FASTING AND ABSTINENCE.

Ashes will be distributed at the following Masses:

  • Wednesday:
    • 10.00am(English)- Children from St. Denis’ will attend this Mass.
    • 7.00pm. (Polish)

It is the beginning of Lent when we are asked to make some sacrifices to prepare for Easter. Mass is every weekday Mon-Fri at 10am and Rosary is said at 9.30am.  It would be good to see some more people attending, especially during this Jubilee Year.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS WILL BE SAID EVERY WEDNESDAY DURING LENT AT 10.30am.  Please try and come along.

Please note that the second collection during Lent will be taken up for Sick & Retired Priests.
 

SCIAF BOXES

During Lent we are asked to take a SCIAF Box to put donations into. There will also be a second collection on the 3rd Sunday of Lent.  Please make sure you take one as they need all the help they can get. Thank You.

FIRST THURSDAY OF THE MONTH - EXPOSITION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT

Will take place this Thursday, 6th March after the 10am Mass, when we are asked to pray for vocations to the Priesthood and Religious life.

SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION

The children from St. Denis’ School will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in St. Mary’s, Calton, on Thursday 6th March. Please keep them in your prayers.

FRIDAY 7th MARCH

This Friday we are asked to pray for all THOSE WHO HAVE SUFFERED ABUSE.  Please keep them in your prayers.

AIFREANN GAELIGE/ Mass in Irish

Sunday March 9th, 2pm, Blessed John Dun Scotus Church, 270 Ballater St, G5 0YT. Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Brian Ó Fearraigh (Gaoth Dobhair, Dún na nGall) Sandwiches & Tea/Coffee & biscuits in the hall after Mass. Organised by Conradh na Gaeilge Glaschú (The Gaelic League)

WALKING TOGETHER IN HOPE CONFERENCE

All active members of the Legion of Mary in Scotland are invited to the Holy Year Conference on Saturday 8th March in Our Lady and St George’s church hall, 50 Sandwood Road, Glasgow G52 2QE. The conference will begin at 10.45 am and conclude at 4 pm. Legionaries are invited to attend the parish Mass at 9.30 am in Our Lady and St George’s church.

ST. JOHN OGILVIE VESPERS

Ecumenical Evening Prayer in honour of St John Ogilvie and other witnesses of faith will take place in St Aloysius Church, 25 Rose Street, Garnethill,  at 7pm on  Friday 7th March 2025. With Church and Civic Leaders, Drama, St Mungo Singers, Musicians and School. All welcome, refreshments to follow.

ASSISTED SUICIDE CONCERNS

A meeting is taking place in Our Lady of Good Counsel, Dennistoun on Wed 12th March at 7.30pm.... There you will be given facts that will help you share your concern with your MP or MSP. If you have never done this before, the meeting will help you to act.  Please don’t miss the chance to make a difference, and bring a friend or family member.
