WEEKLY BULLETIN – 23rd AUGUST 2026 – (21st  SUNDAY OF THE YEAR)

NATIONAL YOUTH PILGRIMAGE 2026 | Saturday 26th September | S1–35: Join the Youth Office and young people from across Scotland on a pilgrimage to Pluscarden Abbey. Discover more about the lives of monks and nuns and other religious,  and conclude the day with Vigil Mass. Return coach from St Andrew's Cathedral (£20). 7am–10pm. VOCATIONS MASS: You are invited to the annual Vocations Mass on the 24th of August at 7pm. The Mass will take place in St Andrew’s Cathedral, Clyde Street, Glasgow, G1 4JY. It is an opportunity to join as a diocesan community and pray for all vocations. There will be refreshments afterwards in Eyre Hall.  Everyone welcome.

NOTICE : NO MASS: There will be NO MASS on Tuesday (25th AUG) this week. There will be LITURGY OF THE WORD with Holy Communion.

HOLY MASS FOR TEACHERS AND SUPPORT STAFF: Holy Mass for our Teachers and Support Staff in St Andrew’s Cathedral at 5.15pm on Tuesday 1st September.

NATIONAL PILGRIMAGE TO WHITHORN: The annual National Pilgrimage to Whithorn will take place on Sunday 30th August.  Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Frank Dougan on the beach near St Ninian’s Cave at 4 pm, and at the church in Whithorn at 4.45 pm for those unable to reach the shore.  A well-established footpath about one mile long takes you through the glen to the shore, and to be in place for Mass at 4 pm it is recommended to begin the walk by 3 pm.  More information at https://rcdg.org.uk/whithorn-pilgrimage-sunday-30th-august-2026/.

NATIONAL PILGRIMAGE TO CARFIN: The National Pilgrimage to Scotland’s Marian Shrine will take place on Sunday 6th September with Mass at 3.00 pm.  At the Pilgrimage Mass, the faithful will join the Universal Church in marking 800 years since the death of St Francis of Assisi.  The principal celebrant and homilist will be Archbishop William Nolan of Glasgow.

ASSISTED DYING BILL:  Letters were given out last week which will be sent to our local MP with regard to the Assisted Dying Bill.   Quite a few people signed these and there will be a number of people here at the church today, to collect any others, and to answer any questions you may have.

WALK THE CROSS SCOTLAND – walk one kilometre for every year that Jesus lived:  Carfin Grotto to St Andrew’s Cathedral, Glasgow. 26th – 27th September.  Saturday 26th - Meet at Carfin for 9:30am Adoration and 10am Mass. After refreshments we will walk to Uddingston Train Station.  Sunday 28th – Meet at Uddingston Train Station at 8:30am for a 9am start. Walk to St Andrew’s Cathedral, Clyde Street,  finishing with the Divine Mercy Chaplet before Mass at 3:00pm. Refreshment stops are provided on both days.
